You will find answers to many questions here. If you have any unanswered questions, we are happy to help. Just get in touch at: office@openhouse-bern.org.
No, the event is free of charge for all visitors. Of course, we would be delighted if you enjoyed the visits and help us to make OPEN HOUSE BERN 2026 possible. The best way to do this is to click HERE.
For programme items that work with advance booking, you can book a time slot via our website from 14 April 2025 from 12.00 noon. To do this, you must be registered on our website and then click on the building or event under "Programme". You will find the registration window under the picture on the right.
With one profile, you can book a maximum of five people for one time slot (places are subject to availability). You can manage your registrations in your profile under "My tour". You can cancel booked tours yourself - even on the day of the event. We would be grateful if you would either turn up or release your place in good time so that places can be allocated on site. Thank you!
Children are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian! You can set the "Kids" filter in the programme gallery so that you can find suitable formats more quickly. The other programme items are also open to children, but do not offer a separate children's programme.
Our volunteers will be on site during the event and will be happy to provide information about the programme. We can be contacted by telephone for all other enquiries.
Open House is a great opportunity to take pictures. We welcome all images that are shared with us. Please limit photography to the architecture, respect privacy and do not photograph people. Only areas where there is no evidence of people (students) may be photographed.
Post your pictures on your social media using the hashtag #ohbern. If you are not active on social media or your profile is not publicly visible, we would be happy if you send us the pictures by e-mail or download link. We will be happy to publish them for you. You can send your email directly to Renato: rmarti@openhouse-bern.org.
We take both topics very seriously and would like to enable all interested parties to participate in Open House Bern without any problems. If you have physical limitations, you can filter the programme by barrier-free buildings. Open House Bern is a peaceful event with the aim of giving everyone access to the current architectural discourse. There is no place for discriminatory and abusive behaviour, racism, sexism, queerophobia and violence!
If you have any suggestions for improvement, ideas or other concerns in this direction, please contact Rahel: rgugelmann@openhouse-bern.org.
The selection criteria include Properties with an innovative character (whether in terms of use or architecture), properties with awards (e.g. Atuprix, Dr Jost Hartmann Prize), properties in the KGS inventory, properties that have found their way into specialist journals and/or local reporting. When compiling the programme, we also paid attention to different periods of origin, functions and a balanced geographical distribution.
We are happy to receive suggestions. Please contact Nicola from our team: nschuerch@openhouse-bern.org.
We have agreed internally to use the generic masculine in the titles due to character limitations. In continuous text, we use the colon whenever possible, as this is better recognised by reading programs for the visually impaired.
The event is organised by the independent association Open House Bern - Architecture for All. Our non-profit organisation relies on sponsorship contributions and funding to hold the event. Donations from private and commercial patrons are also an important part of the organisation's ability to hold the event.
