This residential development, situated on a hillside and comprising narrow terraced houses and a six-storey block of flats, is one of the high-quality extensions to the Halen estate. With its dense, spatially varied layout, it combines Classic Modernism with a design reminiscent of Mediterranean and historic urban structures.
Cul-de-sacs, open spaces and staggered outdoor areas characterise the layout of the estate. Exposed concrete, concrete slats acting as brise-soleil, green roofs and terraces, as well as narrow maisonette units, reflect Le Corbusier’s design language. The apartment block, built in 1970, draws on motifs from the Unité d’habitation and, as a striking finale, provides a landmark visible from afar.
