Further information

Wohnbaugenossenschaft Huebergass is a self-managed cooperative with 103 residential units. The Huebergass housing project in Bern was presented at the UIA Congress 2023 on the topic of "SUSTAINABLE FUTURES - LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND". The concept by GWJ Architektur, ORT für Landschaftsarchitektur and social planner Martin Beutler was developed together with the "Wir sind Stadtgarten" cooperative in a participatory process. The six-part housing estate is linked to its surroundings in terms of urban planning, architecture and society and has an impact on them. The alleyway between the buildings is the pulsating centre of the overall concept, providing access to all communal and private spaces. The wooden porches are both staircases and private balconies, promoting open communication and neighbourly life.
