Together with students from Bern University of Applied Sciences and residents, we go in search of everyday stories in the Wittigkofen high-rise housing estate. We ask ourselves what home really means and what makes a housing estate worth living in. The walk is dedicated to Jane Jacobs, a North American activist who campaigned for the preservation of neighbourhoods on a human scale in the 1960s. In this Jane's Walk, we explore the question of how Jane Jacobs would view the 1970s Wittigkofen housing estate by architect Otto Senn today. Would she be surprised at how much community and cohesion can be created in such a large-scale housing estate? Come along and take a walk!
The tour is a co-operation with the Bern University of Applied Sciences and Fussverkehr Schweiz.
For those interested, the walk will be followed by a lecture on the architecture critic Jane Jacobs
