The two-part building complex consists of an approximately 130 metre long, five-storey linear building along Eigerstrasse, which protrudes into the space of Monbijoustraße like a prow, as well as an enclosed tower body as a solitary volume, which encloses the forecourt with the main entrance. The longitudinal façade of the building is characterised by a glass façade with different slopes and a selective design. The ribbon windows are made of thermally separated aluminium profiles and are complemented by a rear-ventilated aluminium cassette cladding. The south façade is fitted with fixed, perforated solar shading louvres.
The different requirements of the users led to a striking horizontal separation of the main building. The first floor, known as the Beletage, is used for common areas. Below this is the computer centre with increased security requirements as well as ancillary and building services rooms. The cantilevered first floor comprises training and conference rooms as well as the south-facing cafeteria. A two-storey entrance hall connects and provides access to the semi-public zone.
The building features a mixture of high-tech aesthetics and deconstructivism typical of the time. It was built for the Federal Office of Information Technology and Telecommunications (FOITT) in the so-called Emch-Loch, a depression through which the Sulgenbach stream flows and where numerous small commercial buildings from the 17th to 19th centuries stood until the 1960s.
