Further information

The Bern tram depot is a single-storey, unheated hall building with a shed roof structure, which is used for the maintenance and parking of tram vehicles. Inside there are also functional installations such as a washing facility, storage rooms and rooms for staff and depot control. The hall is around 200 metres long and rests on a single row of columns, which provides a great deal of flexibility for its use. With the extension completed in 2023, the span has increased from 46 metres to 73 metres. This has more than doubled the capacity from 28 to 60 tram trains. The lift gates are vertically movable façade units and were specially developed for the tram depot to allow the vehicles to be positioned as close together as possible.
