The Bern tram depot is a single-storey, unheated hall with a shed roof structure, used for the maintenance and storage of trams. Inside, there are also functional facilities such as a washing bay, storage rooms, and rooms for staff and depot control. The hall, which is around 200 metres long, rests on a single row of columns, offering considerable flexibility in terms of use. With the extension completed in 2023, the span has increased from 46 metres to 73 metres. This has more than doubled the capacity from 28 to 60 tram sets. The lift gates are vertically moving façade units and were specially developed for the tram depot to allow the vehicles to be positioned as close together as possible.
